Bubbles!

Paige loves bubbles... She loves them that she can play play with bubbles for hours on end. It's fun but after an hour, your jaw will start to feel numb and your mouth will feel dry. Anyway, she was still sick, down with cold and fever. But she loves playing bubbles, so we kept on blowing bubbles after bubbles while she lie in bed.

We were having fun blowing bubbles when suddenly, she sneezed. And then these disgusting round huge up-to-her-mouth-and-cheeks mucus came out of her nostrils It was really, really disgusting. You would think she'd be disgusted too, but no, definitely not my daughter. She was so happy. I began laughing though when I understood what she was saying. She was shouting, "bubbles! bubbles! bubbles!"

Sheesh!

Role Reversal

Paige woke up at 3 o'clock in the morning and refuses to go back to sleep. Erbe and I were working, so we couldn't turn off the light or stop working. By 5 o'clock in the morning, Erbe was finished with his work, so he decided to go to bed and nag Paige to go to bed too. At that time, Paige was standing by the window and peering out. She was marveling at the gorgeous sunrise she was seeing - the sky was lit in glorious colors.

Erbe kept nagging her to go to sleep. He must have irritated because she turned to him and then what she said next drove me to laughing fits. She actually turned to Erbe with this exasperated look in her face and then she said,

"Ika, makuliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitun kang maray!"

Smart Ass

Frustrated that Paige would not eat the egg pie she brought home, Mommy adopted a different strategy which in our house we call, "the martial law strategy". Basically, it consists of pretending to get mad and even threatening bodily harm (okay, that sounds like something you would report to Bantay Bata).

I rarely forced Paige to eat because I've read somewhere that it won't do the toddler good. After all, she'd eat if she's hungry. Sometimes, I do force her to eat when I know that she hasn't eaten anything yet.

Anyway, Mommy in her frustration gave Paige's bottom a little smack. This prompted Paige to look at her and say, "Ulitun mo pa yan Mommy ta isusumbong ta ka ki Mama ko. Aanggot saimo si Mama ko. Lagot ka!"

Once again, Mamu was taken aback, and so she just started laughing.

Paige and Yaya

I am not at all a stage mom. I really want to be, but thinking of dancing to the tune of Nobody in front of a lot of people just because it was Family Day makes me want to die. Literally, die.

Fortunately, Paige's yaya is a big fan of volunteerism and dancing. Without prompting her, she volunteered to dance in place of all the parents in Paige's class. Seriously. Everyone was happy and relieved because she did all the parents a huge favor. Everyone was spared from humiliating themselves.

Anyway, I was very excited about the whole thing. It took me two days to buy Paige's and Yaya's costumes. Although I know that there was a chance that Paige would refuse to dance anyway, I was hoping she still would.

I shouldn't have counted on it. Disappointment is an understatement. I wanted to cry when Paige really did refuse to dance. I was so furious at her. Everyone was very forgiving because my daughter is the youngest in her class. Still, I really wanted to see her dance.

My only consolation is that Yaya was a hit. Everyone just loved her and she did her routine effortlessly and perfectly. I was so relieved I didn't have to do all the sashaying and grinding myself.

Don't I have the best yaya in the world?
